Runner Profile: Jay Molloy

Jay Molloy joined our run on May 21st 2008, he blew the group away with a time of 19:49 and placing second.  This week still pretty speedy he came in fourth with a time of 20:02.

Jay is originally from Boston, now residing in Boxford with his wife of fourteen years.  Here’s a sweet story, they meet while he was 3 days in on a deployment with the Marines in Aruba, she just happened to be there on vacation.  Imagine, she goes on a trip and finds the love of her life!  They made such an impression on each other they wrote for fourth months until he returned home.  They are now happily married with three children, two sons 10 and 7 and one daughter who is 9.

Jay has been actively running for 14 years, however he also tries to squeeze in some hockey and lacrosse time.  He has played hockey for 37 years and lacrosse for 16 of the last 31 years.

To make a living he is a partner at the law firm Edwards, Angell, Palmer, and Dodge, which is located in Boston.  He deals primarily with hedge funds and according to Jay, “a hedge fund is an unregulated entity (unlike a mutual fund which is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission), in which investors pool their capital so that a third party adviser to the entity can make investment decisions collectively on behalf of the pool.”

We are glad to have you, keep up the good work!

What a beautiful night for a run, with the temp in the upper 60’s and clear skies.  We had a pretty good turn out of 35 runners, that’s with us missing a lot of our regulars.

Welcome to our six new-b’s last night.  Mark Asaro, Mike Paddol, Dan Curtis, Jeff Citroni, John Kymalaihen, and Susan Keezer.

Great Job to Mark Asaro who was here for his first run and came in first with a time of 18:58.  Jen Howland and Tim Short kept each other company on their stroll in at 19:22 taking second and third places.  Congrats to Jen Howland, Nicole Blumberg, and Kevin Whitehead who all set a new P.R. for themselves tonight.

Here’s a few random pictures of some of our runners from last night.

Liam Brady, the founder of Danvers 5K Fun Run.

Aaron Toleos meeting with some of the guys in the “Wicked Running Club”.  We love you too Aaron!

Kevin, what are you watching and was it really that bad?

Runner Profile: Jarred Keohane

Jarred has been running with us since March 12th of this year. He has been an active runner for the past couple of years, however I believe his real passion is softball. He plays a game just about every night of the week from now until October. And he doesn’t just play for one team but for three, Peabody, Lynn, and the traveling team. Wow! Jarred also set a new PR for himself this week coming in fourth with a time of 20:06.

Jarred has a love for all foods, listening to him and his uncle talking about chicken, broccoli, and ziti would make anyone want to run out to the 99. He’s pretty easy going with music, as long as it isn’t country. Ok Jarred, we know that you love Shania Twain! We are glad to have him as one of our regulars in the group, hopefully you stick around for a bit!

he runners lucked out this week, with a temp in the 60’s and missing the rain by about 15 minutes. We had a good turn out of 30 runners in despite of the possible rain.

Welcome to our new-b’s this week Maureen Forsyth, Jay Molloy, Larissa Lang, and George Anderson.

Maureen Forsyth sure had a great first run, she crushed our female course record by 24 seconds with a time of 19:16. Jay Molloy came in second with a speedy 19:49, with Billy Prentiss on his tail in third with a time of 19:55. Congrats to Chip Bott and Jarred Keohane who both set a new PR this week.

Here’s a few random pictures of some of our runners last night, great job everyone!

With Memorial Day coming, Liam Brady would like to find some of you that would like to show your support to the veterans and active duty people that are making and/or made a difference for all of us. Please see Liam at next weeks run if your interested in helping out.

A big thanks to all of those that brought out cans this week~

May 14, 2008

Congratulations to Tim Short who set a new course record tonight at 18:40 (5 seconds faster than the previous record — also held by him)!

It was a fast night — 11 runners under 21:00 minutes with 10 runners all coming in between 20:00 and 21:00. That’s never happened before. I was in the middle of that 10 pack and it was a real horse race to the finish… an exciting last mile, for sure.

Female course record holder Jen Howland was the lone woman in the under 21:00 group. I think this is the first week in a long time when she didn’t set a new pr. Watch out for her next week.

Also notable is the age diversity in that under 21:00 group, at least a 40-year spread from the youngest to the oldest. Awesome.

This was our second week in a row with 40+ runners. Guess the word has gotten out!

Great night with a temp in the upper 60’s.  The runners are finally coming out, we are seeing a few more new faces every week now.

AJ Migonis blew them away with a time of 18:57, 12 seconds and we would have had a new course record!  Jen Howland flew in at 19:40 breaking her PR once again and crushing our female course record also once again.  And Joe Miles, awesome job taking third with a time of 20:56 and setting a new PR.  Spectacular job everyone!

The gang is ready for those magical words, Get set, ready, GO!  Chris you will need to try a tidbit harder to keep up with that lightening fast Jen.

And they are off!  Totally diggin’ the bike Mr. Adam P.

What a great finish from first time runner AJ Migonis, wow where did you come from?

A reminder to all that might be interested in supporting the Bi-Peds on the topic of “rails for trails”, their last meeting until September is on May 12th at 7pm.  The meeting will be held in the carriage house at Endicott Park.  Liam Brady is hoping that we can get a group of us together for this meeting. If you are interested in participating please see Liam at the run Wednesday night.  For more information on the Bi-Peds please call 978-774-8159 or ibarry@danversbipeds.org.

Many thanks to everyone that brought out cans this week!!

A little chilly last night, but great weather for getting out there for a run. We had another big turn out with 40+ people running and there to show support.

Great job from our second time runner Chris Soucy, he took first place again this week. Jen Howland crushed her PR and our female course record with a time of 20:11. I must say, you are awesome! Aaron Toleos came in right after Jen also crushing his PR. You guys rock, keep up the good work!

Hopefully next week we will see a few more donations for the food pantry!

A quick note, as I announced at last nights run I am walking in the NSMC Cancer Walk this year. I am doing this walk in memory of my Mother who passed away to lung cancer in 2006. I set my goal pretty high this year and really need all your help to get there. When you have a moment please visit my page and also pass the word to anyone you think would like to donate. http://www.firstgiving.com/dawnallinder
