smear on the love.

smear on the love.

Trust me when I say you guys have issues. We had 28 runners, which felt like one runner for every degree of temperature it was outside. I guess somewhere deep inside of me, far away from my numb appenditures, I admire the devotion you all show towards running. I guess adverse conditions can add to the accomplishment of the action being taken. I mean seriously sunny and eighty is sooo boring.

That being said, it was a good evening for running, COLD can be a great motivator. A first overall win and a personal record for James DeLucca with a time of 18:32, proves that statement to be true.

Crystal Anthony was our first female Popsicle finisher this evening, with a respectable 18:36

We had only one newbie this evening. Dan Tamroz figured now that it was zero degrees out, that it would be  a perfect time to run a poultry 3.1 miles. Coming in with a 26:17, good form.

A note to all, next week marks the first anniversary of the {Danvers 5K Fun Run} I know that it falls on the eve of Thanksgiving, and there could be some scheduling conflicts due to family and friend obligations. So whether you make or not, I would like to show my thanks to all of you for helping make this little run what it is. ” The greatest contribution to running since Vaseline” Smear it on! You earned it.

Thank You,

The D5K Family.

A little extra tidbit: we as whole have run around 6,500 miles in our first year. Basically out to California and back. That’s about 2,100 laps around the course. Not a bad start.

Its a Boy ~ Congrats Aaron!

Congratulations Aaron and Susan Toleos on your new baby boy, who was delivered at Beverly Hospital’s Birth Center.  Little baby Adam Barclay was born yesterday 11/19 at 12:22am weighting 6lb9oz and 21.5in long.

Please, everyone help congratulate them on their 3rd beautiful child!  :)

Jen is one of the longest members of the D5K fun run, her first run with the group was on February 2nd, 2008 with a time of 22:43.  Yup, she started out pretty fast!  She increased her time every week, ending with the female course record of 20:11on April 30th.  Jen worked her way up to a time of 19:22 on May 28th.  She was doing great and progressing faster than most runners we have been watching.  However, she unfortunately injured her IT band.  She is still trying to recover from this injury, but she did come back to the run full steam this week and finished with a time of 21:24, way to go!!  She has been an avid runner now for about three years, usually devoting 5 nights a week out of her busy schedule to run.

Jen is a Junior at Suffolk University working on her BS in Psychology.  She will then go onto finishing her degree with a Masters in Psych mainly working with post traumatic stress syndrome.  Besides going to school full-time she also, volunteers for the VA in Boston two days a week, works two part time jobs (Boater’s World and REI), and yes still has time to run!
Jen was born in Charleston, SC.  Her parents and their 3 children eventually made their way to Danvers when Jen was in the third grade, they liked it so much they decided to stay.
Jens favorite food, I would have to say would be Riversides pizza in Ipswich!  She loves to read in her free time and also enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  On a nice day you could see her downtown on her Trek going for a long ride!
Jen has been a huge asset to the Fun Run, we all hope shes back up and at ‘em soon!

What a great night for a run, a little chilly if your just hanging out but a good temp for getting that heart rate up!

We had a good turn out of 34 runners this week, with the whole group finishing in under 30 minutes.  Great job everyone!

David Long came in first with a pretty speedy time of 17:57, setting a new PR for himself.  Crystal Anthony is on a roll coming in 2nd with a time of 18:39, and being our first female for quit a few weeks now.  James DeLucca came in close behind, taking third with a time of 18:57.  Our other speedy little lady, Annie Rose Willis came in fourth this week with a time of 20:08.  Kevin Strom came in fifth with a time of 20:46, two weeks in a row, those just might be your lucky numbers!

Welcome to our new b’s this week;  Colleen Ryan 21:08, Josh Doxsee 21:19, and Robbie Armstrong 25:44.

Just a reminder to you all, when giving Adam your name please let him know if this was a first run or a PR for yourself so we can give credit where it is due!  We also love to see all the canned food contributions coming in, so please keep them coming!  The food pantry thanks all of your kindness!

It was great to see you all again, hopefully I will be able to stop and and see you again soon!

November 5th, 2008.

With daylight savings in full affect, it is safe to say that we will being running in the dark for the next few months. So wear something reflective, or wear a light, or carry a torch, whichever you prefer.

I am feeling a little preoccupied today, with little spark for creative thinking. Perhaps the gloomy rain has dampened my flame a tad. So I shall move swiftly into the result highlights.
