Mother Nature really loves us, and sees fit to prove it to us every single Wednesday. I swear at 6:05 p.m. it was clear out, at 7:00 p.m. as you know, basically a white out. She does like to keep it interesting for us. Regardless of the blinding conditions we still managed to drum up 27 brave souls. A respectful number of runners for the middle of a New England February. Along with our faithful group of regulars, we had 6 first time runners who chose this evening as a wonderful time to try out our course. They are as follows.
Rick Brandt. 17:24
Junyeng Pak. 18:37
Seth Anderson. 22:05
Sarah Brandt. 23:54
Stephan Leahy. 30:06
Barbara Previte. 30:06
Top honors in our mens category goes to James Pawlicki who ran a fairly respectable 17:19.
For the Femme Fatales it was Annie Rose Willis tonight finishing in style with a 21:57.
You never know what’s going to happen at the D5K. Every week is something different. This week however proved to be a little more different than most. As we, myself included found out on Wednesday, we are now Homeless. Cody’s is closing and moving to another location. It will still be in Danvers, and hopefully the transition will not take to long. After the shock and denial had worn off, I accepted and embraced the change. The D5k has gone through many changes and growth spurts in it’s short existence, and is much more than the four walls that served to house it. So looking forward I am excited to see where we take it from here. A new home? A new course? Who knows, maybe even some new popsicle sticks. So keep your heads up and your laces tight, because you just don’t know what lies just around the bend.
see ya next week,
adam.
