Special Thanks to:
Detective Frank Wolverton. Senior Staff Instructor at the MBTA Transit Police Academy and the 40 student officers and 4 academy staff members, who took part in the D5K this week. It was truly our privilege to have you take part in our run.
It was a good night for records, and in keeping with that theme I believe this is a record for me, for lateness in writing the blog. A thousand apologies to ALL my loyal “reader?”
Well with a little help from the transit academy we hit an all time record for runners at “93” Not to shabby for a bunch of drunkards. The run could not have gone smoother, no problems, no one called the cops, and no one got lost, heck we still even had a couple beers left over…but no twizzlers.
I really can’t tell you the enjoymaent it gives me to see first time runners become second time runners, and ssecond time runners become D5K Regulars. Even the not-so regular regulars are great to see when they can make it. This should be a great season, we just need a warm hug from mother nature to really kick off this lingering winter chill. I was talking to the calender this week, and he assured me that “yes” it is Spring and that Winter is over. I haven’t been cold since.
A quick tip of the hat to a few of our quick little bunnies:
First Runs:
Oli Gunnarsson. 23:42
Meghan McKenna. 25:02
The Jane. 35:10
Personal Records:
Frank “the alarm clock” Lanzillo. 23:03
Lore Chapman. 25:15
Christina Nawn. 26:45
Mikey Mike Michael Hale. 27:08
The D5K. 93:runners.
On a more personal note: I doubt very much I would have made it through this winter with what little sanity I have left, if it were not for the D5K. It was the one thing this winter I really looked forward too each week. So thanks for stickin in there with me.
See you Wednesday.
