Flavor, is the word I feel best describes the D5K this week. Both literally, and intangibly. If someone asked me what the run tastes like, I would undeniably tell them that it tastes like Danny Chicks stuffed peppers. They, not having had them would reply, “I don’t understand”. Nor should they until they try the unique flavor that can only be created, and crafted, and not simply purchased. I talk to a lot of people who do not understand the run, they see it at its most external, a small piece of the whole, the tip of the iceberg. They do not understand that the run is the finished product of all the personalities that take part, better yet, MAKE the run what it is. Everyone is an ingredient, and brings there own personal flavor to the whole. You can understand peoples confusion when I describe the run to them in this manner. For they have not tasted the course, or added there own flavor to the mix. It is an experience, not a description. However like so many new foods, some people shy away with hesitation in experimenting with new flavors. The D5K is lucky enough each week to be surrounded by open minds and broad palettes, so to all of you I say simply…yummy, yummy.
