Despite a sweltering heat that had most runners 15-30 seconds off their pace and landed at least one D5K’er in the hospital (all better now), it was a good day for most of our runners.
Congrats especially to Annie Rose Willis who was the first overall female and Dave Long second overall male. Tim Short was first male 20-29s. Matt Adams sweated out (literally) a third in male 30-39s.
Hard Core Award goes to James Deluca who ran and finished despite a stress fracture in his foot and a full blown case of lyme disease that would keep most others bedridden. According to James, he was pleased with his performance since he “managed to finish the 5 miler without throwing up on myself or falling asleep.”
Also… the TR Ramsdell v. Frankie “Alarmclock” Lanzillo battle continues. After a slow start, Lanzillo was able to pick up speed and tracked Ramsdell down in the last mile. It was a close one right up to the last few strides with Lanzillo finishing right on Ramsdell’s heels. Looking forward to the rematch at the Backshore 5 miler on May 9.
