Throw a couple Trophies into the mix, then suddenly all hell breaks loose. We start getting New Course Records, and jeeps falling from the sky. (Good thing that wood pile was there to catch me)
Well it looks quite a few runners ate there Wheaties this week. It must be spring fever. With 35 runners in the mix this week it is apparent the thaw is on, as a fresh crop of runners start poppin up like the first flowers of Spring. The winter is finally losing its cold grip on us as the spring rain erases the last of the snowbanks and washes the sand back out to the ocean.
We had a new course record set this week, by none other than D5K newbie and Trophy Winner Junyong Pak. He broke this course over his knee with a 16:58. That bar is lookin a little high these days “any challengers?”
Colleen Ryan was obviously tempted by thoughts of being a D5K trophy winner, and made those dreams a reality by immortalizing herself as the first female finisher this evening with a 21:32.
We only managed to Shang Hai one new runner this week. Jenn Caban took us for a lap this week, and laid down a 21:38 for her first run. Now that Jenn is familiar with the course, I think she may have her eyes set on a first place finish. We will have to wait and see if it to be.
We had 2 PR’s as well this week. D5K favorite Matt Adams threw down a 21:44 on the new course, and Jayne O’Leary gets faster every week. She ad a 33:50.
Great job to all!
